As you can see we had traffic jam somewhere in the
midst of the park because of too much mud. Actually it
was a very interesting trip and we had a wonderful
moment. We had this problem twice. In the pics, the
traffic jam occurred near the hippo and crocodile pond.
We saw live hippos and crocodiles for the first time.
Students were very happy. In all, our journey was very
interesting and amazing. We left Dar on Tuesday and we
spent 2 days at Mikumi Park. We began our visit at the
park on the same day up to 6.00pm. We went to the small
hotel to rest until morning on Wednesday; then we went
to the park again to visit until 2.00pm and we left
back for Dar. At the park we saw many animals,
including elephants, giraffe, antelope and many more.
We had the bad luck that we could not see lions. We
tried our best but in vain, because of too much mud on
the roads. Still, the students were very very happy to
have the trip. Some teachers also wanted to have a
chance.
I am very happy to have
such a trip, because I never saw live animals like
elephants or giraffe before. I have seen them now and
learned a lot about their environment. I did not know
that some snakes have poisons that have no cure at all
once they bite you. I have also learned about the life
span of crocodiles and how they feed and reproduce.
Thanks to My World and to teacher Viane.– Deo, Form 2
I am 16 yrs old, but have never been to Morogoro,
196kms from Dar before. Our country is very big. On the
way to Mikumi I saw the beautiful mountains of the
Uluguru mountain range in Morogoro. Also, I saw many
animals. They are very interesting. Look, a baby boy of
a crocodile and a crocodile father may compete to mate
with the crocodile mother. This causes a father to kill
immediately the crocodile baby boy. It is very
interesting. – Ahmad, Form 2.
To me, the most interesting
thing was a rhino’s life. I heard a guide saying that
when a rhino in the mating process is disturbed, it
takes a long time to resume the process again. This is
quite interesting. This is a reason why rhinos are few
in our national parks in Tanzania. Also he told us that
the carnivorous animals do not have a long life span
because they use much energy to hunt and do miss some
plant nutrients as they do not feed on them. I would
like to work in one of the national parks when I finish
my studies. Thanks to My World and Viane our beloved
teacher. – Neema, Form 2.
There are so many things to learn at the park. I have
to say that I had a nice time here at Mikumi. I did not
know that elephants have families like humans. I have
learned how they feed and reproduce and the time of
gestation. It is very interesting to listen to the
stories of animals from the guide. He is a very good
person and intelligent. Thanks to you Viane our teacher
and your organization. – Husna, Form 2.
